Things To Do
There are some beautiful walks via marked bridle paths just nearby, the nearest being by our
boundary which leads past the Iron Age hillforts to Llanrhystud village and then across the main
road to the beach. It is only a few minutes drive from Penycastell to the village. You can park on
the beach.
The Penrhos golf club is a few minutes drive from the property and Llanrhystud village is a few
more minutes away.
The Ceredigion coastal path can be joined in Llanrhystud and is a must for the enthusiastic
walker. By prior notice we can pick you up in the Range Rover from any prearranged point near
the coastal path. We can provide drying facilities for wet outdoor clothing and also ironing
facilities. We can also provide packed lunches if ordered on arrival. We have lockup facilities
for bicycles if required.
We are 11 miles from the university town of Aberystwyth so that with approximately 20 minutes
drive you can take advantage of all the town`s amenities. The beautiful Georgian Harbour town
of Aberaeron is about 8 miles drive away and definitely worth a visit. If you go to Llanrhystud
beach or Aberaeron or New Quay you may see the bottle nose dolphins off shore. The National
Trust property Llanerchaeron, built by John Nash, is a few minutes drive from Aberaeron.
.Further away, a drive to Elan Valley is recommended. Also a drive to Ynyslas nature reserve
and bird sanctuary made famous by the T.V. programme, Springwatch is well worth a visit and
Ynyslas beach is very special indeed.
We are sure you would enjoy a ride on the Rheidol Steam Railway which you can join in
Aberystwyth or Devil`s Bridge.
